What is IDC:

Insulation Displacement Connection, which means that you will need a punch down tool to fit the wires, a plastic one part number 100190 will do if you only intend to do the occasional sockect or part number 100191 if you want a professional tool for frequent use and it trims the wires for a neat finish. Only solid single strand (not multi-strand) wire can be used with these sockets.
